JAVA Runtime

A JAVA runtime for a small range of operating systems is provided on the CDROM. Far more are available for free download via the Internet. They are subject to licensing conditions from Sun Microsystems and their respective authors (where different): please read the licenses!

If a JRE is not available for your system, another Java implementation - such as a full JDK - will serve. Note that JDK license conditions do not permit distributing it with a product such as the HyperDAAC: you must download it yourself.

If you already have JAVA 1.1, you should probably continue to use it and not install a new one.

WebÞing cannot support JAVA. If you experience problems installing or running JAVA, please see the JAVA FAQs here and the comp.lang.java.* newsgroups on Usenet.
